The plan for the re-use of the former industrial Portello site in Milan proposes a series of public spaces and pedestrian paths that connect the different parts of the area. These are: a fan-shaped square inclined to connect multiple levels and surrounded by three office buildings placed in front of the former Milan fair, a pedestrian bridge that crosses the existing Viale Serra freeway, a public park surrounded by residential districts and the pedestrian square of the mixed-use shopping center covered by a huge canopy that ends the sequence of public spaces in Piazzale Accursio.
