The Manzanares River goes down from the foothills of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, through the center of the city and empties into the Caribbean Sea; Along its 9.5 kilometers it crosses the urban area and goes through many urban settlements.
The current administration contract design 9 neighborhood parks in order to improve the current conditions of some existing parks and to recover some spaces that were lost as a public space, four of the nine parks are part of the river system.
The strategy of defining a system of public space stems from the need to integrate the river into the city, to make it visible and accessible. Such a strategy is comprised of a series of interventions seeking to become active centralities for citizens.
This is the first prototype park that begins to weave such system of public space.
