BADEN THERMAL BATHS -

The new spa in Baden is on an important historical area near the natural bend of the river Limmat, where the hot sping waters have fed thermal baths for more than 2000 years.
The project envisages the construction of a complex in the shape of a hand that opens out towards the river and forms a structured passage between the urban fabric of the lower city and the river Limmat.
The new thermal baths are composed of a long and narrow building that borders the Parkstrasse, of a lower one that leads into the core of the baths quarter and of four trapezium-shaped volumes that shape the fingers of the symbolic hand and ctretch out towards the river.
These latter open toward the sky by means of big skylights and house the thermal swimming pools. There is also a wide outdoor area where people can sunbathe.
The project further envisages a residential quarter to the east, that complets the northern side of the river bank, where a walkway follows the water course up to the park adjoining the new baths.
