Known for their creativity expressed through freehand drawing and painting, the duo Julia Bolles and Peter Wilson founded Bolles + Willson in Munich in 1989. Their designs range from housing projects to offices, from cultural facilities to shops, in search of a formal idiom that transforms the building’s functional and typological needs into creative inventions. Over the decades the practice has worked on projects all over the world, from Europe to Lebanon, from Japan and Korea to Australia, with a strong emphasis on intense teamwork with local consultants and partners. 
Julia Bolles was born in 1948 in Münster (Germany) and studied at Karlsruhe University and then the Architectural Association of London. She has taught at Msa|münster School of Architecture since 1996. She is a member of the ‘DASL Deutsche Akademie für Städtebau und Landesplanung’ and the Salzburg Design Council, and she has been Dean of the Msa|münster School of Architecture since 2008. Bolles has participated in conferences all over the world and sat on the jury of countless competitions, including the one for the new Cologne-Deutz station and exhibition centre. 
Peter Wilson was born in Melbourne (Australia) in 1950 and graduated from Melbourne University before moving to London to complete his studies at the Architectural Association. He has taught at Kunsthochschule Weißensee in Berlin and the Accademia di Architettura di Mendrisio, and as visiting professor at numerous universities all over the world. Peter Wilson has sat on the jury of countless architecture competitions, including the competition for the new Arts Centre in Maribor (Slovenia) and Medellìn Velodrome in Colombia. 
The studio’s awards include the 2013 Gold Medal of the Australian Institute of Architecture, the 2012 International Architecture Award, the 2009 President’s Prize of the Australian Institute of Architecture and the 2007 Premio Urbanistica.
