Churchill said that people give form to buildings and then the buildings model the people. In other words, that the most effective way of generating innovation and quality is to create an environment that fulfils the legitimate expectations of comfort and agreeability cherished by its inhabitants or users, inspiring them to accomplish ever better goals. This is a principle usually disregarded, since common thinking tends to maintain that “discomfort” is more stimulating. At this stage of its corporate life, the multinational chemico-pharmaceutical corporation Zambon decided to invest precisely in this aspect, and to endow its Vicenza operation with a structure outstanding for its hospitality and communication. In order to revise its internal distribution, to move its entrances and to increase connections between its industrial production lines, Z Building was built. This extensive building emphasizes the distinctive architecture of the original factory. But above all, it reconfigures Zambon’s corporate life and style in its relations among staff, collaborators, visitors and guests.
