A chamfered diamond outline and meandering structural lattice establishes Dorobanti Tower as a landmark design for Bucharest – a residential building standing at the centre of a new meeting place and urban plaza – a ‘concrete carpet’ on which seating areas, water basins, fountains and green spaces are arranged.
Urban parameters, site constraints and program requirements generate the building’s elegant tapering profile and dynamically changing surface profile. Tapering inwards at the apex, the tower maximizes views over the city and light for inhabitants. Offset at ground level, if offers a generous public realm and entrance plaza. Bucharest lies within a vulnerable seismic zone and the Dorobanti Tower is conceived to maximize strength.
