RTKL Associates is an international architecture, engineering and urban design firm based in Baltimore, with offices worldwide. In addition to architecture, and structural engineering, the practice also provides services for interior architecture, landscape architecture, and special systems design.
The firm was founded by Archibald Rogers and Francis Taliaferro in 1946. In 1949, the pair added Charles Lamb, whose design for the Anne Arundel County Girl Scouts Teepee Lodge gained the firm national attention by winning an award from the American Institute of Architects. The addition of urban design specialist George Kostritsky in 1961 completed the foursome, and the unwieldy “Rogers, Taliaferro, Kostritsky and Lamb” name was soon condensed to “RTKL”.
RTKL is one of the largest practices in the United States with more than 800 employees. Its award-winning portfolio spans six continents and includes projects in the retail, entertainment, residential, healthcare, civic and public, workplace, mixed-use, hospitality, urban planning and technology sectors.
