IAN+

IaN+ was set up in 1997 and materializes around the core of its three members with diverse professional formation and experience: Carmelo Baglivo (30.11.’64), Luca Galofaro (19.03.’65), for design project and theory, Stefania Manna (06.07.’69) for engineering. IaN+ multi-disciplinary agency aims at being a place where theory and practice of architecture overlap and meet. They have been participating to many national and international architectural competitions, gaining prizes and mentions. In 2010 they won the first prize in the Housing competition “Masterplan Cà D’oro” in Mestre, in 2007 they won the first prize in the international competition “Rimesse in Gioco – Depositi di idee” for the conversion and redevelopment of the ATAC bus deposit in the Pigneto neighborhood in Rome, and they are among the invited team to the international “Campidoglio 2 – La casa dei cittadini”, developed in team with Steven Holl studio in New York. In 2006, with the "Tor Vergata" University scientific research building, they won the Italian Architecture Gold Medal for the first realized work at the Triennale in Milan, they participated at the London Biennale of Architecture and to the exhibition Talking Cities in Germany. In 2004 they won the international competition for the Tittot Glass Museum in Taipei, Taiwan-ROC. Currently IaN+ is involved in the international project “Next-Gene 20” in Taiwan, where 10 Taiwanese architects and 10 international architects have been selected (advisors Tadao Ando, Zaha Hadid, Toyo Ito) to participate to an open-air laboratory for high quality living sceneries. In Italy they have at present some project under construction: an urban intervention for city of Rome in Falcognana, where final planning includes a system of piazzas, a park and two public facilities buildings, an integrated car park in Rome, the visitors facility and connective spaces for the new “Ospedale del Mare” in Naples, a “Punto Verde Qualità”, a sport center and swimming pool in the Arco di Travertino area in Roma, , and in an multilevel underground parking in Verona. They carry on teaching activities in workshops and design seminars at the European Institute of Design in Rome, at the Polytechnic University in Milan, at the Faculty “La Sapienza” in Rome and at the UIC Chicago University of Illinois. In 2004 they held a seminar in the Korean National University of Arts, Department of Architecture of Seoul. In 2005 they taught a design studio at Penn State (University of Pennsylvania) in Philadelphia, USA, they are visiting professor in 2006 and 2009 at Cornell University (Rome Program). In 2008 and 2009 at Ecole Special d’Architecture in Paris. From 2008 -2010 Currently they are teaching at the University of Architecture in Ferrara.
